Admissions

Welcome to Brashier Middle College

We are an award winning high school authorized by the Charter Institute at Erskine. We are a free public high school and admission is open to all students who reside in South Carolina.

How do we get in?
We typically enroll 120 freshmen each year. Siblings of current students are guaranteed a spot in the upcoming freshman class without entering the lottery. Children of Brashier Middle College employees also get enrollment preference. The remaining openings are filled by a lottery which is typically held in November. All other applicants are put on a waiting list in the order in which they were drawn. If any of the accepted students decline, the next student on the waiting list is offered the opening. The results of the lottery are posted on our website and all applicants are notified of their status via email.

Application Timeline

The timeline for the lottery that will be held in November for the Class of 2029 will be posted at a later date.

How does the Lottery work?

When the number of applicants exceeds capacity as it has every year, a lottery will be held in November to determine the students that are accepted in the next Freshman class. Enrollment preference is given to siblings of existing students as well as the children of Brashier Middle College employees without entering the lottery. Once these family members have been identified and subtracted from the available capacity, a random drawing will determine which students have the option of filling the remaining openings. If any of these accepted students decline the opportunity to attend, the option to enroll will be given to the next student on the waiting list.

Additional Lottery Information

  • Siblings of current students are offered an opening in the upcoming freshman class without entering the lottery.
  • Children of Brashier Middle College employees are offered an opening without entering the lottery.
  • Multiple birth siblings such as twins are considered a single applicant and assigned one number in the lottery. These siblings will be accepted or waitlisted based on one draw in the lottery.
  • All offers of enrollment will be made in order of the lottery results. No offer will be made to any student that is not entitled to the opening.
  • All eligible applicants will be notified in writing of their status within 15 days from the date of the lottery.
  • All applicants offered acceptance will be required to respond in writing of their intention. Those not responding by the established due date will be placed back on the waiting list.
